Rusty Fence

Originally written in 2017.

This wall of steel, it stands

Bereft of life

Its coils unyielding, cold,

As if in death

It rends the earth,

Just like a scar amongst the greenery

A curse inflicted upon nature,

The nature, that we now possess.

Its links are rotting, chains are rusting,

Around it flowers coil as they may,

And birds that land here do so chirping

But why, why land upon this wall,

This wall of death and of decay.

And yet a testament it stands, to ingenuity and purpose,

A hand once built this, and inflicted

Upon the scenery, this upright rotting carcass.
