Let your madness slowly bide,
Hide your fangs beneath the demure
Smile, disarming those who see you play the fool,
Until their backs are turned.
Let the laughter slide down your thick hide,
And abide by the vow you swore to make them pay.
That when you swore to live another day, to struggle come what may,
That when your flesh was taken by decay,
Betrayed by those for whom you once did pray,
Those that abandoned you upon that day…
Did you remember then that fever dream where you regained your vigour and your health?
Your skin so smooth like marble alabaster,
All senses beating faster, at the expense of meagre wealth –
That sudden stop in peace of your pained heart?
How many grievances did you depart with?
Spurned by unworthy beasts,
Stripped of your pride.
How pure you were, when tainted
By the vile cruel world that had enslaved you.
Stabbed in the back and left to die alone,
And only I could save you.
You owe me patience. Did you not decide
To trust in me your angel, in my promise:
That when the night turns dark by the last light,
Your debts at last would be repaid.
Am I not merciful upon this night?
Am I not love that overturns the envy?
And is my one request not fratricide?
That which you wished for, longed for why God sent me?
And in the night together we shall feast,
Upon this plague of creatures, man and beast.
Those who loved you the very least.
And as I speak their heartbeats… cease.
An Angel such as I would never lie, and so
In truth their deaths weren’t at all painless,
They cried, they screamed, they begged us for their lives.
But in the end, they died and you were blameless.
Rejoice you’re free of all these earthly bonds,
Those that had left you wandering in the clearing,
Alone and seeking vengeance, but all lost
Until I saw you, shared with you my being.
