Red lilies flower along the stagnant pool.
Hate washed away by the spring rain
Has returned, a virulent ghost of pain.
Between the lilies, spider threads unspool.
A bloody stain above the clear blue mirror.
Eternal bloom, perennial perfection.
Caress of the breeze upon my soul
Gentle like the slaughter,
Slain and sent to sleep beneath the water.
All in vain,
Eternal temperance and the empty cup,
Drained of the tears of humiliation.
Earth yields only desolation.
And the spirit yearns to breathe again.
Infernal patience ends
And body tenses.
You are too distant my hatred
You’ve returned too late to feast
Out of all my paltry senses
I love you the very least.
Yet inside my darkest torment
In the maze I couldn’t leave
It is you who roiled beneath me
It is you who let me breathe.
And I hate my own indebtedness,
To you who I left behind,
Years I wandered and was senseless,
Why did you for so long hide?
Crush the chains that dwell within me
Break the shallow bonds beyond,
Rend apart that which still ails me
Free me from the shallow pond.
Rise again my weary grimace,
Mangled by the mark of Cain.
I disgraced you, once.
I will again.
